When we use resources or item consumption through Job Journals, we often want to have different prices for the same resource or item on different job. For example, we have resource “Construction Labor Work” with hour for unit of measures. For some small projects, we want to use resource price of 50€ per hour, but for project big one, we want to use e.g. 35€ per hour. We can change price on journal line, but we can configure specific resource and item price per job, based on contract with our customer.

Resource Price
We can configure this on Job Resource Prices window. We can find it using search functionality or using Resource command on Job card (Home ribbon). We need do to next:
- Select the job that we want. On the Navigate tab, in the Prices group, choose Resource. The Job Resource Prices window opens with the job number filled in based on the record shown in the job card.
- We need to enter the Code and Type for the resource, resource group, or all resources based on which option that we are creating a price for. The description of the resource code will be copied to the Description field on the price line.
- We can fill in the optional information for the price. For example, we can fill in the Job Task No., Work Type, Currency Code, Line Discount %, and Unit Cost Factor fields. This information will be used in the job planning lines and usage journals when this resource is entered and added to the job.
- Fill in the Unit Price field for the resource Code and Type we will set the price up for. This will be the unit price used in the job planning lines and job journals when this resource, a resource assigned to the resource group or any resource is entered.
Item Price
We can configure this on Job Item Prices window. We can find it using search functionality or using Item command on Job card (Home ribbon). We need do to next:
- Select the job that we want. On the Navigate tab, in the Prices group, choose Item. The Job Item Prices window opens with the Job No. field filled in based on the record shown in the job card.
- We need to enter the Item No., and optionally the Variant No., for the item that we are creating a price for. The description of the item/variant code is copied to the Description field on the price line.
- We can fill in the optional information for the price. For example, we can fill in the Job Task No., Currency Code, and Line Discount % fields. This information will be used in the job planning lines and job journals when this item is entered or added to the job.
- Enter the unit price for item we will set the price up for. This will be the unit price used in the job planning lines and job journals when this item is entered.
Conclusion
When we post resources and/or item on Job Journal, these prices will always override the regular customer price (“best price” mechanism) for items or the prices configured in the existing Resource Price/Resource Group Price tables. If we want to use the regular customer price mechanisms, then we should not create any job item or resource prices for the job.
