I've fixed the issue. I have batch script that checked for the existence of the font. If it exists in windows\fonts, the script ignores it and moves on. If the font does not exist, it copies over the font and installs a registry entry that takes affect after the next reboot. Looks like for whatever reason, the font installed but didn't work. I opened word on the machines in question and the font didn't show up even though it appeared to be installed in the windows\fonts directory. I deleted the entry and reinstalled the font manually, and it worked like a charm.
