Few days ago, I got a questions about SQL Server Runtime and Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Because of that, I have news and I post them. SQL Server 2012 Runtime for Microsoft Dynamics is available from 1 September 2013!
Microsoft Dynamics is excited to announce the launch of SQL Server 2012 Runtime. SQL Server 2012 Runtime offers compelling product features and capabilities to run your Mission Critical applications. SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition Runtime is now available on the Dynamics Pricelist.
Summary of Pricing and Licensing Changes effective 1 September 2013:
- SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition Runtime is available for licensing from the Dynamics pricelist by new and existing Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and Microsoft Dynamics SL customers*.
*SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition Runtime is also available to existing Microsoft Dynamics AX customers that have first licensed SQL Server 2008R2 Standard Edition Runtime prior to 1 November 2011.
- SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition Runtime is only available as an upgrade option and is not available for licensing of additional Servers and Client Access Licenses
- SQL Server 2008R2 Standard Edition Runtime is no longer available for licensing.
- SQL Server 2008R2 Enterprise Edition Runtime remains available for licensing of additional Servers and Client Access Licenses (“CALs”) to customers that have first licensed SQL Server 2008R2 Enterprise Edition Runtime prior to 1 September 2013**.
** Prior to 1 November 2011 for Microsoft Dynamics AX customers.
- Customers with SQL Server 2008R2 Standard Edition Runtime if current on a maintenance plan will be automatically upgraded to SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition Runtime in Voice in September 2013.
- Customers with SQL Server 2008R2 Enterprise Edition Runtime if current on a maintenance plan will be upgraded to SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition Runtime upon request.
- Existing customers that have allowed their maintenance plan to lapse may not reenrol SQL Server modules into a maintenance plan and are not entitled to SQL Server Runtime upgrades. The SQL Server modules of lapsed customers will be automatically inactivated in Voice and the Protected List Price of these modules will be removed. Once the module is inactivated, customers wanting to deploy an upgraded version of SQL Server need to relicense SQL Server Servers and CALs. Note that inactivation does not remove the right for these customers to continue running the SQL Server version on their account when they lapsed.
- Prices of SQL Server Standard Edition Runtime CALs have increased.
SQL Server 2012 Runtime software is available in the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
In order to improve delivery efficiency, SQL Server 2012 Runtime is only available electronically for download on Partner Source. Both the Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition software are now available and ready for download. Media is not available. Note that the software may not be distributed to customers and must be deployed by the partner. Partners must provide customers with a printed copy of the SQL Server 2012 Runtime Software License Terms (“SLT”) included in the download folder and ensure that the customer:
- Understands that the printed SLT supersedes terms embedded in the software, and
- Agrees to the terms contained in the printed SLT prior to deploying the software.
