The Zetadocs Archive Service requires SQL 2012 to be installed (Express or other editions are supported). 

The Zetadocs Archive Service installer will install SQL Express 2012 for you (if it doesn't detect an existing SQL 2012 installation).

If you already have a SQL 2012 installation, the installer will recognise this and just create a new DB instance called 'Zetadocs'. If you have an earlier version of SQL installed, then you will need to either upgrade or install SQL Express 2012 side-by-side.
