You must have heard about it .. I mean the famous “In” and “On” story .. famous from the announcement during Directions EMEA 2013, and famous, because of these blogs:

Me personally, I have been setting all this up several weeks ago. The result is sooo cool. A nice integration with O365: export to online excel from your webclient, sharepoint apps, … and all by only signing in once: with your Live ID that you use for O365, you sign into the NAV Web Client, so you can seemlesly switch between one another.

Cool!

Very Cool!

But … not that easy to set up, I can tell you that. Me, a simple C/AL developer and Dynamics NAV Enthusiast, but not familiar with certificates, live id’s, azure, ACS, … and all that. But I was able to set all of this up, after collecting different sorts of information: video’s, blogs, .. .

Now, everything is in one place:

PartnerSource

Since monday, there is a PartnerSource page that is dedicated to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 in Office 365 on Windows Azure. You have to check it out. On this page, you can find two brand new white papers as well:

I have read these white papers .. and really, it’s a must read! It guides you through a lot (may be all) you need to know … or better … you need to take into account when you’re considering moving your NAV 2013 R2 to Azure, like:

  • What options do you have
  • What value does it bring
  • Technical guidance
  • Licensing considerations
  • Sizing Guidelines
  • Test results for a number of azure virtual machine sizes

Really .. a must read!

The only thing I’m missing a little bit is a straight forward price indication by examples. For example: 5 users, 20Gb database, medium size azure vm, average usage, … that’s x Euro’s a month in average. I would like to know that x value ;-).

But in any case, I have at least lots of parameters now thanks to the white papers .. it’s just a matter of doing some math (not my strongest side though ;-) ).
