Data entry in any software solution is a critical component to creating important business data. If items are entered incorrectly, reports cannot be trusted and you will be bogged down cross-referencing data. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 has some new features available that allow you to customize pages by organizing fast tabs and creating quick entry fields.
Microsoft Dynamics® NAV 2013 has recently released a new ‘quick entry’ feature that improves the data entry process by making it faster to navigate fields. Each field that appears on a tab can be selected to be included in the quick entry sequence in any order specified by the user. When quick entry is applied, pressing ‘enter’ while in the main view will move the cursor to the next quick entry field, whereas the ‘tab’ key will take the cursor to each field on the tab in order. Using quick entry allows you to quickly jump from various fields in any specified order.
In Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you can customize what fields appear in fast tabs to allow you to view the most pertinent information for your role. The fields on a ‘fast tab’ can be assigned as follows:
- Standard: These fields will automatically show up in your fast tab.
- Additional: These fields will only be available if you select ‘shows more fields’.
- Promoted: These fields will be visible in the tab bar when it is collapsed so you can quickly identify the ‘need to know’ data. Previously in the classic view, you would have had to go to each tab to see the fields, now you can look at a collapsed fast tab to see payment terms by month, location, or quantity for example.
