You can setup posting period for certain user using "User Setup" for this. Please see below link for detail : docs.microsoft.com/.../how-to-specify-posting-periods

The allow posting from/to in General Ledger Setup can be used to block ALL users from posting date outside permitted range. The allow posting from/to in User Setup can be used to block specific users from posting date outside permitted range. The User Setup takes priority over General Ledger Setup.

Forum Post: Dynamics NAV 2016 % calculations

$

Hello, I'd like to know if it's possible to have sales items with % calculations! Let's imagine that I want to charge a fee to my client based on a % calculus. For example, I selling tomatoes at $100 and as a delivery fee I'll charge 10% of the value of the tomatoes; so in the end it will be: Delivery fee - $100 x 10% = $10. Delivery fee=$10 In the sales price I added a item named commission on outlays; and it should work as in the example above; however, my consultant says that % is just for information purposes... Not sure if he's telling the truth... is it possible to have items for % calculations and therefore insert those items on the Sales Price list?

For anyone else still struggling with this issue, I think I have discovered a solution. NAV does not like pasting blank cells from Excel into Option fields which have a Blank option - Document Type, Gen. Posting Type etc. If, however, you put a Space character into these fields on your Excel template, then this does not cause the error. Problem solved!

Hi there You can definitely manually integrate the SOAP or REST APIs using X++ as Hannes suggested. Alternatively if you want to save time, you can use a pre-built app like Zenkraft that connects to 45+ shipping carriers for rating, booking, tracking, cancel, pickup etc. Carriers include DHL, FedEx, UPS, USPS, Royal Mail and 45+ others. More information can be found here: zenkraft.com/dynamics-365-finance-operations-shipping

Blog Post: Business Central Sandbox is not the same as Preview

$

Just in case you have fallen victim of the confusion I see often in online communities, blogs, but also Microsoft official documentation: Dynamics 365 Business Central sandbox is not the same as Dynamics 365 Business Central preview. They are two different things. Keep in mind, in this blog post I am not talking about sandbox container environments (on-prem); I am only talking about online sandbox environments. This is not pure semantics. Things in sandbox environments (and I mean, real sandbox environments of Business Central) differ from things in  preview environments. Exactly a year ago, Microsoft wrote a nice article titled Access to the Dynamics 365 Business Central Preview that does a good job in making a clear distinction between preview (a full, unlimited Business Central environment, that you can use absolutely free of charge for 30 days) and sandbox (a non-production environment that you can use on top of the production or preview environments to develop and test additional extensions). The problem is, you have Microsoft’s articles (such as this ) using “sandbox” for what they mean “preview”, and other articles (such as this ) making you believe “sandbox” and “preview” are the same. And then you have scores of community articles, comments, posts, github issues, and other resources happily mixing the two terms. When you sign up for a preview account, you get a preview of the production environment that you can use for 30 days for free (and then continue using if you sign-up for a paid subscription within the next 90 days). Every production environment comes with an option to configure one additional sandbox environment. Since your preview account is bound to a production environment, you can create a sandbox environment from that preview production environment too, and then (and only then!) you have what really is a sandbox environment. There are differences between production and sandbox environments. For example , they have different API endpoints , sandbox environments include the in-client Designer , they differ in how you upload tenant customizations , and a lot more (I couldn’t find a comprehensive document explaining all of the differences between them). When you sign up for a preview or production environment, you don’t automatically get a sandbox environment. There are two ways to get them: The most obvious is to follow the instructions in the article at this link . A less obvious is to just navigate to https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/sandbox and then use your production (or preview) account to sign in. If you didn’t already have a sandbox environment, one will be created for you, and you will see this: One sure-fire way to tell whether you are inside a sandbox or production (or a preview of a production) environment is to observe the application navigation bar. Production and preview show this: … and sandbox shows this: If you are inside an environment, and you are confused because things behave differently (e.g. the “Upload Extension” function is missing from the “Extension Management” page) or you see a different list of extensions installed, check which environment you are in; it may give you the answer to why things are different. And always keep in mind – production (including preview) and sandbox are two physically different tenants; they share nothing in common except the account you use to sign in. Since they are two different tenants, they are also two different databases in the background, which also means different configuration, different data, different everything. Forum Post: Page action not visible for a user

Hello I use Microsoft Nav 9.0, I need to provide access to a user to the page Account Schedule Names (103) and Acc. Schedule Overview (490). I followed the followed steps but the user still cannot see the Page action on her Role center page. 1-I created a new permissions set and recorded the accesses to these pages in include execution access to them and read only access to its related tables. 2-I added the permission set to the user 3-I added a Page Action on the Role Center Page associated to the profile the user uses. From the development application I run the page and I see the action but when the user opens its client interface it does not show. In this case I modified the page 9003. For the action I modified the field RunObject, I even compare the other fields with a current visible action for the user. 4-For testing purposes I only changed the RunObject property of the action for a Report associated to another visible action and the new one was shown in the client interface for the user, I assume because of that that it's something related to the user permissions associated to page Account Schedule Names (103) Thank you in advance for any support. Enediel

Try to customize the ribbon and see if you can add it. If you can add and use the action, it is not a permission issue.

Hello, If the scenario does also fail when connecting to a specific release of Dynamics 365 for Sales, I would suggest you raise this with Dynamics 365 for Sales support.
